The sisters of the Gamma Phi chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta strive to improve themselves and the community. Alpha Gams are women who lead organizations, earn scholarships, and give back to the community. Alpha Gamma Delta promotes academic excellence, philanthropic giving, ongoing leadership and personal development and above all, a spirit of loving sisterhood.
Guided by our Purpose, Alpha Gamma Deltas strive to attain a higher standard, thereby improving their lives, the lives of those around them and the communities in which they live. Together, we continually work to inspire the woman and impact the world.
Alpha Gamma Delta’s colors are Red, Buff, and Green; their symbol is the Squirrel; their flowers are Red and Buff Roses with Green Asparagus Plumose Ferns; and their philanthropy is Fighting Hunger and the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.

What stood out to me about Alpha Gam was the passion that radiated from each conversation I had. Every girl was passionate about her major, her clubs, and her hobbies. “When I registered for recruitment, I was so nervous and had no idea what to expect. I didn’t know anything about Greek Life, and I just wanted to make friends since I didn’t know anyone at Tech. I had no idea that joining a sorority would give me so much more than new friends, but also role models and sisters.
At PNM orientation, we were given a list of values and instructed to pick those that were most important to us to find in a sisterhood. When I looked at this list, some values that stuck out to me were kindness, inclusion, and authenticity, so I tried to keep them at the forefront of my mind during the week. Each day that I came back to Alpha Gam, I saw these values embodied by every woman I spoke to, whether it was in the way they lit up when I said something that reminded them of their roommate, how excited they were when I asked them to tell me about their big, or when girls I talked to on Day One remembered my name and told me how glad they were that I was back on Bid Day. I saw women who I wanted to be more like, and who would welcome me with open arms.
One section of our purpose is “To hold truth inviolable, sincerity essential, kindness invaluable.” Our members live out this line every day, and I’m continuously in awe of the genuine women I’m lucky enough to be an Alpha Gam with. Alpha Gams are intelligent, ambitious, driven, but above all, kind. I’m so thankful for the memories and people AGD has given me, and I’m so grateful to be reminded of my “Why Alpha Gam” every single day :)”
