Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Dear CPC Community,

Over the past two years our community has made strides to develop an inclusive and equitable culture. While CPC has only begun on our journey, we have begun to implement various necessary changes to our systems to help drive us in the correct directions such as: the newly founded Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vice President position and the DEI panel composed of representatives from each chapter. Collectively, we recognize that this is just the beginning of our journey and are working on ways to further nurture a culture of DEI mindedness.

Within 2023, the CPC DEI VP & DEI Panel have three main priorities:

1. Standardize consistent DEI education and practices across CPC chapters while retaining the individually tailored DEI program for each chapter’s unique needs.

a) The DEI VP  will be working directly with each chapter’s DEI representative to create a individually tailored strategic plan

2. Nurture a holistic culture of DEI-mindedness within leadership such that DEI is implied in the role rather than an addition.

a) This will occur through intentional education and initiative for all members of chapter leadership to develop and drive change in their positions i.e. Implicit bias training, DEI in recruitment training, & DEI in leadership training.

3. Promote DEI initiatives through Georgia Tech and connect our community to additional resources

a) This will include training through the Institute of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion & the Office of Student Diversity Programming.

As we move forward with prioritizing DEI in our community, we value any input from you, our community, as we hope to serve you and provide a space for belonging. This form will be checked on a weekly basis as we will aim to implement input in an effective and time-appropriate way. Additionally, to make myself accessible to all members of our community you may contact the DEI VP at  deivp.gtcpc@gmail.com with your ideas or schedule a 30 min meeting via this calendly link. We look forward to this coming year of serving our community.

Sincerely,

Anisha Kanukolanu

CPC DEI VP

  • To the CPC Community,

We want to thank you for your overwhelming support for the changes we so desperately need in our community. Uprooting a foundation of systematic racism is a large undertaking, but we know this community can make the change! We hear you, we are listening, and we also want the change!

We ensure you that your leaders are working tirelessly to enact the change you want to see! Through consistent cross-council collaboration, internal chapter president roundtables, conversation with chapter individuals, and partnership with our office of fraternity and sorority life, we commit to change. Below you’ll find a running list of our commitments and what we are currently working towards. This is intended to share our current work, but is in no way all encompassing or definitive. Let’s continue the conversation and work together to ensure the Georgia Tech Panhellenic experience is for everyone.

Linked HERE is a document of the changes we are enacting in our leadership and our community as well as actions the women in our community can take. We encourage you to take a look and read about the ways the Greek Community is growing.

We encourage you to talk with your peers, talk with your sisters, talk with you chapter leadership, and talk with us! We are working from the ground up, and that starts at the individual level. Don’t underestimate your own ability to spark change. Moving forward, feel free to reach us through our direct line to CPC Exec form.

    Sincerely,

    Your Executive Board

To the Georgia Tech and Atlanta Community,

The Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC) is deeply saddened by the recent acts of racism, injustice, and police brutality imposed upon members of the Black community on a local and national level.

The CPC community at Georgia Tech supports and celebrates the diversity of our members. Our sorority community honors the individuality of both our chapters and our members. We urge the members of our community to speak out against acts of racism and bigotry, and to promote diversity and inclusion in their organizations.

While we are deeply disheartened and hurt, we continue to work alongside fellow members of the Greek community at Georgia Tech and the greater Atlanta community to fight for a more inclusive, caring, and just society.

We call for everyone to come together as a united people to continue to push this movement forward. There is no movement without motion

    Sincerely,

The Georgia Tech Collegiate Panhellenic Council

  • Resources and recommendations from Georgia Tech’s National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC)

CPC worked with NPHC to ask of ways to support one another’s communities. NPHC President Davy Waku compiled a list of ways to donate, protest, petition, educate, volunteer, and take action politically. Please take time to see all of the ways to take action.

Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Update and Future Plans

“Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (IDEI) is leading Tech’s effort here in collaboration with units across the campus. Following weeks of social unrest, IDEI has placed heightened focus on its already strong suite of programming designed to address perceived and real racial inequities.” Their update provides action steps on how the faculty is responding and ways they plan on working harder to combat racial injustice on campus.
